Hide to Seek w/ the Hungry Medium.

My spiritual mentor, the Hungry Medium returns to the pod to do a light catch up and more!

Happy Hoodoo Heritage Month to you if you celebrate and honor the sacred tradition. To celebrate my favorite month of the year, I decided to release new episodes of my podcast, The Practice of a Hoodoo Baptist. I’m kickin’ it off ahead of my bday, and with the return of a special guest, Ms. Kat Niambi aka the Hungry Medium.

If I had to describe the overall conversation this episode without tapping into the title, I would say it is a spiritual wake-up call for anyone exhausted by internet chaos, blanket advice, and people mistaking performance for purpose. the Hungry Medium and I get real about the cost of being online, the danger of unsolicited judgment, and why some gifts are meant to be used quietly—not posted for clout.

We dive into the emotional whiplash of social media to the deeper work of protecting your energy, honoring your own timing, and learning when to speak, when to disappear, and when to trust that the right people will find your medicine anyway.

The Hungry Medium opens up about being 85% done with caring what the internet thinks, building a sustainable community, and choosing intentional, one-on-one guidance over the noise of mass content. In this episode, they explore:

  • Why the internet rewards harshness, while real growth often happens in private

  • How spiritual gifts can be distorted when they’re turned into content

  • Why not every message is meant for everyone

  • The difference between collective advice and truly individualized guidance

  • How solitude, grace, and discernment can become survival tools

  • Why protecting your energy can look like silence, boundaries, and selective sharing

Also, I dive into what it means to care for my grandmother as dementia changes our relationship. That experience is reshaping my relationship to oral tradition, memory, and preserving family wisdom. It grounds the larger spiritual discussion in love, grief, and the urgency of paying attention while we still can.

So this episode is for the seekers, the spiritually curious, and anyone trying to stay grounded in a world that wants your attention but not your peace. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the internet, judged for your beliefs, or called to protect what is sacred, this conversation may feel like a welcome exhale.
